Call for Community Building Day
About
Advances in Robotics and Automation are meant to benefit the world at large;therefore, we recognize the importance of ensuring that everyone feels welcome in the field of robotics. Following the foundation laid at ICRA 2025 and continued through ICRA 2026 and IROS 2026, ICRA 2027 is proud to feature a dedicated Community Building Day during the conference in Seoul, South Korea.
This year’s Community Building Day aims to highlight the scientific merit of inclusive research environments, foster broad participation, and build global collaborative networks across the robotics community. We invite session, panel, workshop, and networking proposals led by affinity groups, regional robotics initiatives, accessibility advocates, and community leaders.
Community Building Day is open to all ICRA 2027 attendees. We encourage everyone to join us, learn how to engage and promote openness in our field, and support IEEE’s mission to foster technological innovation and excellence that benefit humanity.
Suggested Session Topics
We welcome proposals focusing on, but not limited to:
- Affinity & Identity Group Initiatives (e.g., Women in Engineering / Women in Robotics,
Black in Robotics, Queer in Robotics, LatinX in AI/Robotics, Africa in Robotics, and other global/regional networks) - Accessibility and Inclusive Design in Robotics (e.g., adaptive technologies,
neurodiversity, physical accessibility in research, labs, and conference environments) - Global Equity & Open Science (e.g., robotics in developing regions, open-source
hardware/software for accessible education) - Mentorship & Career Pathways (e.g., cross-institutional mentorship, supporting early-
