Entry for Congress Participants
If you need a Visa to enter the Republic of Korea, please apply for one as early as possible. Additionally, applicants affected by these procedures are informed of the need for additional screening at the time they submit their applications and are being advised to expect delays.
| Region | General Entry Requirement |
|---|---|
| Asia-Pacific E.g. China, Japan and other Asian countries | May require either a visa or K-ETA depending on nationality |
| Europe E.g. Germany, Austria, United Kingdom and other European countries | Many nationalities may be eligible for visa-free entry or K-ETA |
| North America E.g. United States and other North American countries | Entry requirements vary depending on nationality |
| Other Regions Countries from Africa, South America, and the Middle East | Please check with your nearest Korean embassy or consulate |
K-ETA
Nationals eligible for K-ETA, who wish to enter the Republic of Korea without a visa, must obtain K-ETA approval before boarding the flight or ship. Applying for K-ETA after boarding or while already in Korea may result in disadvantages, such as refusal of K-ETA approval or entry restrictions.
K-ETA assessment typically takes 72 hours or less. However, please note that it may take more than 72 hours due to an unexpected increase in applications or other circumstances. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received, and there is no expedited service to speed up processing for specific applications.
Recommendations
To avoid frustration and disappointment:
- Advance planning by travelers is essential. Carefully review your eligibility for either a K-ETA or a Korean visa before making travel arrangements.
- Plan to submit your visa application well in advance of your intended departure date. Contact your nearest Republic of Korean embassy or consulate for a current time estimate and recommendations.
- Visit the embassy or consular section where you plan to apply for your visa. Visit their website to find important information
